back pwned by cheap chair.
Jun. 9th, 2009 05:36 amso i was teaching my first class of the day and the chair underneath me buckled and landed me unceremoniously onto my ass.
i had to go home early because my back was bloody sore and i was worried that i had aggravated my lower compressed disc.
after a LOT of sleep, tho, i'm only a little stiff.
in my back, you pervs.

(no subject)
May. 24th, 2009 05:19 pmi'm not sure how exactly it happened, but my son suckered me into buying him about $100 worth of Lego at Toys-R-Us yesterday.
i think it was a coordinated plan because he beelined right to the appropriate section in the store and already knew which kits he wanted. i tried to be a good Dad, honest, and i even didn't get him the two kits he really wanted. i told him he could choose just one and a smaller kit not on his list. he still tried to carry both kits for a few minutes until a put my (limp) foot down.
well, i hadn't seen him for three months!!!
and my ex told me he tired (and succeeded) doing the same thing to her on more than one occasion, so i don't feel too bad, but i don't want to be one of those divorced Dads that buys the affection of their non-live-with children.
we did have a fun lunch and i was astonished to hear that he has the same interest in astrophysics as i had when i was his age. bloody stunning, let me tell you. we talked for at least 1/2 and hour on black hole and event horizons.
